What "Large" means for the Classic Flap
Chanel does not sell a Classic Flap named "Large." Sellers use the word in two ways. Some mean the 30 cm flap, which Chanel calls Jumbo. Some mean the 33 cm flap, which Chanel calls Maxi. The two bags differ by 3 cm in width and about 4 cm in height. Ask for the number in centimeters before you pay. A listing that says "large" carries no size information on its own.
Measurements to confirm
- 25.5 cm wide: Medium, also written M/L. This is not a Large.
- 30 cm wide: Jumbo. Most listings that say Large mean this bag.
- 33 cm wide: Maxi. Deeper body, taller flap, longer base.
Measurement tables on resale sites differ by a few millimeters. Treat the listed width as a check, not a promise. Ask the supplier for the base width, the center height, and the gusset depth, all in cm, taken from the unit in stock.
Strap and hardware numbers
The 30 cm bag takes a longer single-chain drop than the 33 cm bag. Both chains run through metal eyelets on the top edge. Ask for the drop in cm, measured single and doubled. Ask for the hardware finish by name: gold tone, silver tone, or ruthenium. The turn lock, the chain links, and the eyelets should match in tone. Photos under daylight show tone better than studio shots.
Checkpoints on the bag itself
- Quilting: count the stitches along one diamond edge. Alignment at the flap corners matters more than the count.
- Leather: caviar has a pebbled grain, lambskin is smooth. Grain size should hold steady across the front, sides, and base.
- Stamp: the interior stamp sits under the flap. Check spelling, spacing, and letter height.
- Serial: Chanel moved from a hologram sticker and card to a metal plate with a microchip in 2021. Replica batches vary here. Ask which version the unit carries.
- Structure: the bag should stand on its base without support.
No replica passes every checkpoint. Ask for photos of the actual unit, not a stock image. Ask for the batch name and the date the batch was made. Ask what happens if the bag arrives with a defect.

Legal note for US buyers
A bag that carries the Chanel name and interlocking CC mark without authorization is a counterfeit under US trademark law. Selling one is a civil violation and can be a criminal charge. US Customs and Border Protection seizes such shipments at the border. Wholesale buyers take on more exposure than single buyers. The words "replica" or "inspired" on a listing do not change the trademark status of the goods.
