The anagram

- Depth. Metal anagrams have weight and a bevel. Stamped foil on a fake flattens at the edges.

Inside the bag
Loewe sews a leather tag inside. The tag carries the word LOEWE, the words Made in Spain, and a numeric code. Loewe does not publish a code format, so any site that asks you to type a number into a Loewe checker is not a Loewe service. Stitching on the tag runs even and matches the thread color of the lining. A loose tag glued instead of sewn is a sign of a copy.

Jonathan Anderson designed the Puzzle in 2015. The bag is built from geometric leather panels that fold into a flat shape. Points to inspect:
- The top zip closes with one pull and runs past both corners.
- The front carries no metal logo plate. Loewe embosses the name on the leather.
- Panel edges meet at sharp angles. Fakes round the corners.
Leather and hardware
Loewe uses full grain calfskin and lambskin. The surface shows natural grain that varies across the panel. A plastic feel, a uniform print, or a smell of glue points to a fake. Zipper teeth on real Loewe bags are metal and move with resistance. Painted teeth, plastic teeth, and a pull that bends under finger pressure are common on copies.
Packaging and paperwork
Loewe ships a dust bag, a box, and an invoice for online orders. Boutique sales include a receipt with the store name. Colors of the dust bag and box change by season, so a single correct color is not a test. The paperwork matters more than the box. A seller who blocks the receipt, the order email, or the return address is a risk.
Where fakes fail
- Stitch count drops at corners and on strap edges.
- Anagram letters differ in height by 1 mm or more.
- Interior tag reads Made in Italy, China, or Turkey.
- Serial number repeats across listings from one seller.
- Price sits 80% below retail with authentic in the title.
Steps to take
- Ask for photos of the interior tag, the anagram, the zipper pull, and the receipt.
- Compare the price to current Loewe retail. Hidden prices are a stop.
- Pay with a method that allows a chargeback. Wire transfers and gift cards remove that option.
- Ask a Loewe boutique to inspect the bag in person. Staff do not verify from photos.
- Report a counterfeit seller to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
