2. The Greca pattern
The Greca is a Greek key border. On a real bag the pattern lines meet at the seams. The repeat count matches on the front panel and the flap. Counterfeits cut the pattern at random, so the line breaks at the seam. Measure the repeat: on most models the Greca band runs 12 mm to 15 mm wide. Fakes vary.
3. Interior label and serial tag
Real Versace bags carry an interior label with the word VERSACE and MADE IN ITALY. Letter spacing is even. The font weight stays consistent. The serial tag sits inside the pocket or along a seam and holds a number printed in one line. Versace does not host a public serial number database, so a tag alone does not confirm a bag. Some models use a leather patch. Some use a fabric tag.
4. Hardware, zippers, and weight
Real hardware uses a heavy plated metal. A real strap hook has a spring with resistance. Zipper pulls come from makers such as Lampo, Riri, or YKK, or carry the Versace name. Teeth are brass or a plated metal. Fakes use plastic teeth, magnet closures with weak pull, and chrome that flakes at the corners.
5. Stitching, lining, and edge paint
Stitch count on a real bag runs 8 to 10 stitches per inch. The line stays straight. Thread color matches the leather. Lining is cotton or viscose with the Medusa print aligned to the panel. Edge paint is thin and even. Fakes use thick edge paint that sits above the leather surface.
6. Price and packaging
A new Versace shoulder bag retails from about $1,200 to $3,500. A seller who lists a new bag at $200 to $400 is not selling a real bag. Real boxes carry the Versace name on the lid. Dust bags use cotton with a printed Medusa head. Authenticity cards appear on some models only, not all.
