Know the legal position

Goods that carry a registered trademark without authorization are illegal to sell in the US. US Customs and Border Protection can seize a shipment and destroy it. A seller who promises "customs-safe" shipping describes a workaround, not a guarantee. Treat a seizure as a total loss.

Inspect the bag in this order

Leather and lining

Ask for a close photo of the grain at a corner and the lining at a seam. Real calf leather shows a tight, even pore. Bonded leather shows a plastic sheen and peels at the fold. Lining should be cotton twill or microfiber. Loose satin is a low tier sign.

Hardware

The Medusa head medallion should sit flat, with crisp hair strands and sharp edges. Weak casting shows a rounded face and blurry detail. Zippers should be metal with a smooth pull. White paint on the teeth means a coated plastic zip.

Stitch count

Measure 1 inch of the top seam. Good units run 8 to 10 stitches per inch. Uneven spacing, loose thread, and glue at the edge are the three marks of a low tier build.

Print and logo placement

The Greca pattern should line up across the side seam. On the La Medusa line, the head sits centered above the flap edge. A shifted head or a cut-off repeat means the panel was cut without matching.
