A grade on a replica Prada bag tells you two different things, and sellers often blur them together. The first is the build tier: how close the bag sits to the original in leather, stitching, hardware, and logo placement. The second is the physical condition of that specific piece: whether it is new, carried twice, or worn at the corners. "1:1 mirror, 9/10" means a top-tier build in very good used shape. "AAA, new with tags" means a mid-tier build that has never been carried. Those are not the same purchase, and the price gap between them is real.

Why the two scales get mixed up
Replica grading language grew out of the wholesale trade, not out of any standards body. "AAA," "AAAA," "1:1," and "mirror" started as seller shorthand for factory lines. They were never trademarks or verified ratings. Condition language came from a different world, the resale market, where The RealReal, Fashionphile, and Rebag each publish their own condition scale for pre-owned luxury goods. When a listing mashes the two together, you are reading marketing, not a certificate.
The replica tier scale
- Budget tier (often "AAA"): thinner coated canvas or split leather, lighter hardware, wider stitch spacing, logo plate slightly off in proportion.
- Mid tier (often "AAAA" or "high quality"): better grain, closer hardware weight, correct interior stamping, but glazing and edge paint may still show sloppiness.
- Top tier ("1:1," "mirror," "premium"): matched leather type (Saffiano crosshatch, nylon, or smooth calf), accurate triangle logo angles, correct hardware finish, proper interior label and card.
Call the tiers what you want. What matters is whether the seller can describe specifics: stitch count, hardware plating color, lining material, and the exact model the bag copies. Vague tier words with no details usually mean a mid-tier bag wearing a top-tier label.
The condition scale for a used bag
Most resale houses use a five or six step scale. The wording differs, the logic does not.
- New with tags: never carried, original tags and dust bag, no creases.
- New without tags: never carried, no tags. Check for faint handling marks on the handles.
- Excellent: carried a few times, corners sharp, hardware bright, no odor.
- Very good: light wear on corners or handle glaze, minor scratches on hardware, clean interior.
- Good: visible corner rub, softened structure, some hardware scuffing, maybe a small mark inside.
- Fair: shape loss, cracked glazing, tarnished or peeling hardware, stains or odor.
What actually moves a fake Prada down a grade
I look at five spots first. Corners, because Saffiano and nylon both rub through there. Handle glaze, because cheap edge paint cracks before the leather does. Hardware, because plating wears to a dull yellow or flakes at the zipper pull. The triangle logo, because a loose or tilted plate is hard to fix. And the interior, because lining stains and odor do not come out. Any two of those in bad shape drops a bag at least one full grade, no matter what the tier label says.
Reading a listing that says "9/10"
Number grades are not standard. Sellers usually mean "looks great in photos." Ask for close-ups of all four corners, both handle bases, the zipper pull, the logo plate shot at an angle, and the interior base. Ask whether the bag has been stored stuffed or folded flat. A folded bag develops creases that never fully relax.
Matching grade to price
A top-tier build in excellent condition should cost more than the same build in good condition, and more than a mid-tier bag that is new. If a seller prices a mid-tier, well-used bag at top-tier money, the grade words are doing work the bag cannot. Compare the tier and the condition separately before you compare prices.
Quick questions to send before you buy
- Which factory line is this, and what leather or canvas does it use?
- Is it new, or how many times was it carried?
- Can you send corner and handle close-ups in daylight?
- Is the hardware plated, and has any plating worn off?
- Does it come with the dust bag and cards?
If the answers stay vague while the grade stays high, trust the photos over the label. A grade is a shortcut, not a guarantee, and on replica bags it only means something when the seller backs it with detail.
